Morphological Operations in Recursive Neighbourhoods
نویسنده
چکیده
This paper discusses the use of recursive neighbourhoods in mathematical morphology. Its two notable applications are the recursive erosion/dilation, as well as the detection of foreground–background changes to be used in skeletonization. The benefit of the latter over the use of sub-cycles or an extension of the neighbourhood is emphasized. Two applications are presented that use the recursive neighbourhood in a 3D surface and a 3D curve anchor-skeleton variant. 2003 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A New Hybrid differential filter for Motion Detection
A new operator to compute time differentiation in an image sequence is presented. It is founded on hybrid filters combining morphological and linear recursive operations. It estimates recursively the amplitude of time-variation within a certain interval. It combines the change detection capability of the temporal morphological gradient, and the (exponential) smoothing effect of the linear recur...
متن کاملAlgorithms for Morphological Profile Filters and Their Comparison
Morphological filters, regarded as the complement of mean-line based filters, are useful in the analysis of surface texture and the prediction of functional performance. The paper first recalls two existing algorithms, the naive algorithm and the motif combination algorithm, originally developed for the traditional envelope filter. With minor extension, they could be used to compute morphologic...
متن کاملMorphological Structuring Elements
For image processing systems that have a limited size of region of support, say 3 x 3, direct implementation of morphological operations by a structuring element larger than the prefixed size is impossible. The decomposition of morphological operations by a large structuring element into a sequence of recursive operations, each using a smaller structuring element, enables the implementation of ...
متن کاملAppraisal of compliance with land subdivision planning regulations in residential neighbourhoods
Although previous studies have attempted to address the challenge of land subdivision, there is still a scarcity in the literature on how the extent of conformity to land subdivision planning regulations may be statistically and spatially analyzed. This study, therefore, explores the extent to which residential developers comply with land subdivision planning regulations in Kenya, a case study ...
متن کاملOn the computational content of the Lawson topology
An element of an effectively given domain is computable iff its basic Scott open neighbourhoods are recursively enumerable. We thus refer to computable elements as Scott computable and define an element to be Lawson computable if its basic Lawson open neighbourhoods are recursively enumerable. Since the Lawson topology is finer than the Scott topology, a stronger notion of computability is obta...
